The SAMM Committee for 2017

Paul Shard – Commodore

Peter Ewers – Treasurer

I am retired having spent more than 35 years with Ford Motor Company as a Design Engineer/Manager and Re-Engineering Consultant.  In the 90’s I took up dinghy sailing with Eyott Sailing Club on the River Crouch in Essex.  The club has just celebrated its 60th anniversary.  The club sails mainly Heron and Solo dinghies of which I sailed both with varying success.  The club provided great awareness of what is required to ensure a safe and enjoyable sport.  During my 15 years with them I served as a lay committee member and Treasurer.  Five years ago I joined SAMM with my wife Lyn; we quickly bought one of the founder shares in the Deltania Boatshare Group and really enjoy our sailing on a larger boat (7.2M) and have made some really good friends.  As a founder member of the Deltania Group I was promptly elected as Treasurer.

I am looking forward to serving on the SAMM committee as Treasurer and helping to promote the social side of sailing which I believe is an essential part of a successful club/association.

Dave Hardwick –  Secretary

Dave will take over as secretary commencing April 2017.

My wife, Di, and I retired to Spain at the end of 2014 after a career of teaching mostly in middle schools. I spent a good few years teaching forces children in Germany and with my eldest son, learned to sail with the army on the Mohne See.
It has been a pleasure to get back into sailing and to meet many new friends.
